A school dedicated to the formation of young women
We are a Catholic post primary girls' school situated in the heart of Blackrock village. As a small school, we know each girl and want her to be true to herself.
Our school was established by the Ursuline Sisters and as such we are guided by the Ursuline philosophy and ethos. We are committed to the constant practice of gentleness, courtesy, kindness and justice for all our girls.
We empower our girls to be the best they can be, shaping leaders of the future who carry a sense of purpose and a desire to make the world a better place. We ensure our girls are responsible, resilient and active citizens who are prepared for the opportunities and challenges of life that lie before them.
Ursuline College Blackrock Cork is the oldest girls secondary school in Ireland having been established in 1771. We have nurtured and educated young women in Cork for almost 250 years.
Committed to the education of the whole person
We strive for academic excellence for each student and the development of her full potential: spiritually; emotionally; physically; intellectually; aesthetically and socially. Whilst academic endeavour remains at the school's core we encourage our girls to contribute fully to the life of the school beyond the classroom.
Our educational philosophy is rooted in the values of the Ursuline order. We aspire for our girls to leave the Ursulines equipped with the personal qualities and resilience to live both a purposeful life and one that builds upon each girls unique talents. Personal success is not the only measure of an Ursuline girl, rather we aspire for our girls to play an integral part in the lives of their families, friends and communities and by doing so contribute to the betterment of everyone in society.
We aim for Ursuline girls to be resourceful, intellectually engaged and outward looking. We pride ourselves on sending each girl out into the world armed with a life-long love of learning as well as the self-knowledge and independent thinking required for her to take her place in the world.
