Guidance on Making Senior Cycle Subject Option Choices
All girls will study 7 examinable subjects at senior cycle.
Core Subjects
Outlined below are the core subjects that your daughter will take next academic year. All girls will take the subjects outlined below (unless they have a language exemption).
- English
- Irish
- Mathematics
- French
- Religious Education (RE)*
- Physical Education (PE)*
- Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE)*
- Careers* *denotes a non-exam subject
Option Subjects
The girls are also required to choose 3 additional subjects from the below list:
- Accounting
- Art
- Business
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Geography
- History
- Home Economics
- Music
Please note that whilst we are seeking expressions of interest for accounting and business we will only be able to offer one of these subjects. The decision over which subject to offer will be based on where the greatest demand is. We will update parents on this outcome once all choices have been made.
Making Subject Option Choices on VSWare
We ask that parents log on to VSWare and complete the subject option process with your daughter during the week beginning Monday 7th March 2022
The girls will be provided with guidance, information booklets and advice relation to their subject option choices before this time.

When you log into VSWare, you will see a tab entitled Subject options along the top left-hand side of the page, When you click on this you will be brought to 4 drop-down menus where you can input your daughter's options.

Please ensure that you choose 4 options. In the event of your daughter's third preference subject not being available, the 4th choice will be used.
The deadline for inputting options is Monday 14th March 2022.
