First Year
In First Year we run a “taster programme” of subjects i.e. our students have the opportunity to get a flavour for all subjects on offer for a full year. These include core subjects (which will be carried on up to third year) such as:
- Irish (unless exempt)
- English
- Mathematics
- French
- History
- Geography
- Business Studies
- Religious Education
- Social Personal Health Education
- Civic Social & Political Education
- Physical Education
The rest of the following First Year subjects are chosen as optional subjects for the Junior Cycle Student Award. The option blocks are determined by feedback from student surveys which are carried out at the end of the first year. These subjects are:
- Science
- Home Economics
- Music
- Art
Computer Studies is also studied in first year.
