Aims of the Department:
Business Studies aim to stimulate students interest in the business environment and how they interact with it. It develops skills, attitudes and behaviours that allow them to make informed and responsible decisions with all the resources available to them, ensuring their and society’s well being, while becoming more self-aware as learners.

Facilities offered by the school for the Department:
Each teacher has their own classroom with a laptop, data projector and whiteboard. There are two well equipped computer rooms in the school.

(a)  Business Studies - Information on Junior Cycle/Syllabus:
This is a three year course. At present First Year students have two class periods per week. In second and third year, students have four class periods per week.

The prescribed textbook and workbook.

(b)  Accounting - Information on Leaving Cert Accounting Senior Cycle:
This is a two year course. Students have five class periods per week. The subject is offered at ordinary and higher level.

The prescribed textbook
Fifth and six year students use past leaving certificate exam papers
An A4 pad for school and homework which is kept in a business folder

Activities that can support a student in all Business subjects:
●    Useful websites such as www.studyclix.ie and www.examinations.ie
●    Reading business related news stories in newspapers/magazines, online or on TV.
●    Attending any presentations made available to senior students at third level institutions such as U.C.C. or C.I.T.
●    Attending Leaving Cert Accounting/Business revision courses organised by the Cork Business Teachers Association.
